I love it when artists mix textures and styles into their own unique work of art. Jose Ignacio Romussi Murphy has done just that with photos by Rocio Aguirre. Plus, I love the little phrases he uses like “Life is beautiful” and “Art cannot be criticized because every mistake is a new creation.”

What are some phrases you live by?

{Wish I Was Wednesday} John Pusateri

Not many people know this, but when I was young my mom told me I could collect one thing. After much thought, I chose to collect owls. They were known to be wise and I love their big eyes and majestic wings. Every time we were near a thrift shop, I’d rush in to find vintage owls. I stopped my collection around 4th grade because it was already huge. I’ll have to show you one day. They’re all carefully packed away in my parents’ garage. I pulled them out last year and it’s kind of ridiculous how many there are! I find it extra cool that they are so in now. I digress. My point is that I’ve always been drawn to owls and these amazing works of art by John Pusateri were no different. They almost look like he took a paintbrush to real owls. I love them!

Do you like owls?

{Melissa White} Website

From the moment I saw Melissa White’s work I stopped everything I was doing to find out more. If you haven’t noticed, I have a thing for gold and I love the gilded look of her handpainted design in wallpaper. She trained with an artist specializing in Elizabethan painting and one of their projects was replicating painted cloths in the Shakespeare’s Birthplace Museum. How amazing is that? I hope to have something this amazing in my home someday! (Via The City Sage)

These animal portraits make me smile and melt my heart at the same time! I want a whole wall of them for my own personal zoo. Maybe in my pet rabbit Jake’s room.

Which animal is your favorite?

I love it when artists make me think about something differently. I love these little light shows put on and captured by Kim Pimmel. They’re fun, colorful, and unique. Different lights are used as brushes as he experimented with different exposures. So neat! He also made a video.

Have you every used different light sources in your photography?

{Jill DeHaan} Portfolio

According to my planner, it’s National Handwriting Day. I didn’t know there was such a thing, but I figured we’d celebrate with an amazing handlettering artist Jill DeHaan. I first saw her work through these floral alphabets, which I just heart! Then, I found my way to her portfolio and I loved every single thing! It was really hard to pick faves.

Have you every tried to handletter?

{Wish I Was Wed} Richard Shilling

{Richard Shilling} Website

I spent hours in my backyard as a kid picking up my favorite leaves, making “recipes” with found berries and flowers, and just hanging out on the branch of my favorite tree. I wish I had the talent of Richard Shilling and arranged them as beautifully as he does instead. The decaying series and collapse series really intrigue me too. He collects his materials and builds art near where he finds it. I’m loving them!

Do you collect leaves or snippets of natures?
