Even after buying a home in Oregon, I still am and will probably always be a California girl. I miss the sun and the palm trees and all my colorful sun dresses (which I try to wear here anyways with tights). I’m definitely longing for summer!

The neon trend has been keeping its staying power and recently I’m loving the pairing of neon yellow with one of my all time faves – aqua. It’s a light hearted combo that has me daydreaming of sunny skies.

I know that it’s not summer and that I really shouldn’t be daydreaming about waves, but these photos were too good not to share. A is all about wave photos. I’m not sure how that started, but we’ve been debating where we could put one in the house. I came across Kenji Croman’s beautiful photographs on Colossal and was just in awe. He also recently had a Kickstarter that was funded so he and his wife will be headed to South America soon! I can’t wait to see the results.

A’s parents bought 4 Oregon International Air Show tickets this year and invited us along. I had never been and A hadn’t been since he was a kid so were were both super excited! It was one of the hottest weekend we had seen in Portland this summer, but it was so much fun eating random carvinal snacks and watch the wonder of these airplanes. Everything they did was so impressive. Swoops, point turns, purposeful parachute/engine failure, and the jetpack truck! It really made us appreciate the history of human invention as well as our US military. This year’s star attraction were the USAF Thunderbirds. They were incredible! We’ll definitely be headed their next year for the Navy Blue Angels! (Photos by A.)
Have you ever been to an air show?
It’s not technically summer anymore, but how can anyone resist these adorable popsicle iPhone cases ($25)? Besides, the stick can bend back to be used as a stand. How cute and convenient!

I’ve been dealing with a lot of stressful situations lately and so I feel like I haven’t quite gotten a summer. I’m still delayed daydreaming in the sun and the beach. Especially in aqua and skintones (for bathing suits!). This imagery relaxes me and makes some of my worries wash away…
How are you celebrating the end of summer?
I will definitely be having a hammock in my backyard. At least during the summer months. I can only imagine how relaxing that will be with an ice cold lemonade! (Via In Honor Of Design)

Have you spent time on the beach this summer?
It’s the week of my BFF’s birthday and one of the things I’ve always admired about her is that she speaks her mind and people love her for it. She exudes confidence and happiness that everyone is drawn to. Although this bohemain guitar girl doesn’t look exactly like her, I love the freeing and carefree aura she has that reminds me so much of my friend. (Photo via Lovely Bohemia)

Unlike most summers, we haven’t gone to the Oregon coast as much as we usually do. I’m definitely dreaming of when I used to run to the beach on the weekends in LA. I’d lounge, dig my toes into the cool sand underneath, listen to music, read books, and jump into the cold water that I’d instantly regret once my hair went into a jumble from the salt water. Once I even saw dolphins jumping in the ocean. It was so relaxing and freeing. I definitely miss being a California girl sometimes… I’m lusting after those days with this super cute swimsuit…
