Spring in Oregon is often a waiting game. It’s that big rainy lull between winter (often bright but just cold) and the amazing summers. A got me a really bright umbrella (similar to the one in this post) for my birthday to cheer me up when skies are gray. This floral one would also do the trick! I know pastels are a little too sweet for some, but I can’t help it. I’m drawn to them. I love my pinks, mints, and lavenders. This Melbourne home designed by interior decorator Hecker Guthrie really hits the spot. Its light touches of pastel here and there make me so happy.

I think I subconsciously knew I was going to write this post because I definitely paired a hot pink silk shirt with a light purple floral scarf today. This seemingly saccarine sweet combo appeared to me when I saw that adorable sequinned heart cardigan by Markus Lupfer. Then, suddenly it was everywhere I looked! The funny thing about this combo is that it’s so feminine, but could easily be paired with a darker color like black to tone down. Plus, wouldn’t it look great with leather?

We cut down our Christmas tree last weekend. it’s our first Christmas tree in this house and the first one I’ve ever picked out and cut down. We picked up some ornaments from some vintage shops and I began decorating. After I finished I realized that I just about chose the girliest colors ever. The whole tree glowed of pink, purple, and gold much to A’s dismay. He was a good sport and said he liked it though. Haha. The air is now rich with sap and our house officially smells like the holidays!
