Austrian based photographer Ákos Major’s beautiful waterscapes have me wishing I was elsewhere. In fact, it’s my guy bestie’s birthday today so I wish I was in the Bay Area celebrating with him! I hope he has as relaxing and lovely a birthday as these waterscapes.

Have you ever used wax pencils in drawing?
Black and white have such a classy striking contrast. In photography, it really brings out what you are trying to capture. Such is the case with Hengki Koentjoro’s work. Each is more breathtaking than the next. I really couldn’t stop browsing through it all until I was finished.

Looking through my half unpacked closet, I was trying to see what I might actually be for Halloween this year. I realized I had a lot of black and white stripes in shirt, dress, and sweater form. Suddenly ideas of becoming a zebra seemed likely. I’ll probably need some ears, mask, and a tail, but these all seem very DIY-able. In the mean time, I’ll be daydreaming in zebras.

I’ve always loved the pairing of classic black and white. The contrast is so bold and striking. The picks above show that black and whtie can go beyond band and honor chorus uniforms (that’s what we used to wear for performances) and can be incredibly fun and chic.

I remember one of my friends growing up was obsessed with Mariah Carey and along with that butterflies. Now 15 years later, I’m starting to fall for them too. I love their complex and colorful wings. The way they flutter about just mesmerizes me. I hope these pretty butterfly finds inspire you!
PS: These also remind me of the scene in Bridesmaids when the butterfly flies out of the invitation. Haha!

As you can tell from my website, black and white with pops of color are my fave. So, when I started noticing green paired with black and white stripes I couldn’t wait to share with you. It has a classy and even preppy feel to it that just draws me in.

This Love Blanket image looks so appealing as a weekend activity. In the bed for winter, but I’m definitely reliving this outside on the grass or sand of the Oregon coast at some point this summer.

I fell in love instantly with the simple and sweet pop-ups by Mengyu Chen when I saw them on Colossal the other day. Then, I found out she lives in Portland. Yay! These are in preparation for a future comic book.

Which one is your favorite?
Any artist that can take you to another place (especially fun) is a favorite in my book. I saw one of her prints on B For Bonnie’s blog and I fell in love. Then, when I went to her website and I saw an adorable picture of a mouth and beauty mark (just like mine) that flashed “me” right on the front page and as the favicon. Totally hooked. Her simple lines. Her use of colors. Simply perfection. I couldn’t resist getting one of her prints.
