The rush of the holidays, travel, and birthdays have me in a constant anxious rush. I’m taking a little blog break until I get my life back on track! I will also be out of town a few days to celebrate A’s big 3-0! He is freaking out about what I’m planning because I’ve kept it all a small secret. Since everyone is starting their holiday shopping, I thought it’d be fun to do Lust List holiday gift guides through the end of the year. Each Lust List will be dedicated to a person. As you are probably aware by this point in the Oracle MySQL5 Developer certification process, there are two exams that must be passed as part of the requirements. In this article, we will explore the basics of the Oracle MySQL 5 Developer Certified Professional exams, so that you know what to expect and we’ll reveal the one thing that you must do to be successful.
Both of theses Oracle exams are structured in a similar fashion, containing 70 questions that must be answered within a 90-minute time period. Where they differ, however, is in their content. The 1Z0-871 exam consists of the following topics: Client/Server Concepts; The MySQL Client Program; Connectors, data types, and Identifiers; Databases, Tables, and Indexes; Querying for Data; SQL Expressions and Updating Data.
The 1Z0-872 contains the following content topic areas: Joins, Subqueries, and Views; Importing/ Exporting Data, User Variables and Prepared Statements; Stored Routines and Triggers; Obtaining Database Metadata; Debugging MySQL Applications and Basic Optimizations. Of course, you should expect and be prepared for much more specific item coverage to be included among the questions.
Preparing for these exams is simple but not easy. With so much content involved, you need to give yourself ample time to consistently review and rehearse the types of questions and specific content that will be required of you. Using Testslive and their Oracle 1Z0-871 and 872 exam tutorials will give you the exact type of repetitious practice that you need. Practice anything enough times and you’ll get better at it. Exams are no different. Diligent repetition with coursework and Testslive will lead you to exam success.

I can’t believe it’s already been a year. It seems so fast and slow at the same time. On one hand, I feel like I’ve had this blog forever, and on the other I don’t even remember writing as many posts as I’ve had! I’ve learned so much about blogging since the beginning and I’ve made so many friends in the course of this year.
I took classes at Summer School PDX with some of my favorite blogging idols.
We had a Month of Thanks in which we celebrated all things that we are thankful for.
Emily of Potter+Butler and I held our first A Makers Gathering party. We will have many more to come!
I opened up the Daydream In Color shop with all sorts of fun packaging, paper goods, and vintage goodies in your favorite colors.
